The retatrutide sources I keep within reach

Here's where each finding comes from. The notes are there to save you opening a receptor paper when what you really want is the side-effects result.

A trial reports what happened to its participants. A laboratory paper explains a mechanism. A study listing describes the research question. I keep those jobs separate when reading the pages below.

What happened in people?

Obesity trial — Jastreboff and colleagues, 2023

The 48-week weight result, digestive problems and heart-rate changes come from this trial. Its group average isn't a personal prediction.

Type 2 diabetes trial — Rosenstock and colleagues, 2023

The blood-sugar finding and weekly doses tested in adults with type 2 diabetes. HbA1c, a blood-sugar test, isn't a weight-loss measure.

Early half-life trial — Urva and colleagues, 2022

The early diabetes trial behind the roughly six-day half-life. That measurement doesn't supply personal dosing instructions.

Liver-fat substudy — Sanyal and colleagues, 2024

A smaller study of people with fatty liver and overweight or obesity, without type 2 diabetes. The scan measured liver fat, not body-weight loss.

Fat and lean tissue — Coskun and colleagues, 2025

This diabetes substudy looks at fat and lean tissue. Changes in those tissues don't directly measure muscle strength.

How might it work, and what's being tested?

Three receptor targets — Li and colleagues, 2024

Images and cell tests explore three receptor targets. These are laboratory findings, rather than health outcomes in people.

TRIUMPH-1 obesity study registration

The Phase 3 obesity study's design. A listing isn't a result or a guarantee that a trial location is recruiting.

Heart and kidney outcomes study registration

The questions about heart and kidney health. I cite the study question without treating it as an answer.

Zepbound (tirzepatide) injection prescribing information (DailyMed)

The label for an approved tirzepatide product with two receptor targets. It isn't a retatrutide label or approval for compounded medicine.

What do the access rules say?

Unapproved weight-loss products: the FDA's GLP-1 concerns

FDA's retatrutide compounding position and its warning about unapproved research-use products. An encouraging trial doesn't change that position.

Compounding and the FDA: Questions and Answers

What compounding means and why compounded drugs aren't FDA-approved. General background isn't permission to compound a particular ingredient.

Getting started with licensure

HHS explains how state requirements and the patient's location affect telehealth licensure. Being online doesn't mean a provider can practice everywhere.
